Professional Bio
Kim Hansen is an experienced emergency medicine leader with a passion for research, quality and safety. She works as the Clinical Director of the Virtual Emergency Care Service for Queensland Virtual Hospital and is the Medical Director of the Critical Care, Women’s and Children’s Service Line at Redcliffe Hospital, in southeast Queensland. 

She has published on a range of topics including access block, incident monitoring, gender equity, cognitive bias, quality and safety and the provision analgesia in Emergency Departments. Dr Hansen brings a deep knowledge of access block and patient flow, management, and measuring and achieving safe care for patients.

In addition, Dr Hansen was Chair of the Board of Emergency Medicine Foundation from 2019 to 2023 and remains a Board Director, was Chair of AMAQ’s Ramping Roundtable and Queensland Faculty Chair for 6 years. Dr Hansen’s passion to providing evidenced-based, high quality care to patients is evident in her dedication to her roles.  When not working, she loves playing basketball and other active pursuits with her friends, family and her dog, Cherry.
